DESCRIPTION: \nThe Companies Act 2016 outlines the duties and responsibilities of directors.  Contraventions of the provisions result in severe sanctions\, often up to a fine not exceeding three million ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or to both. The changes made by the Companies Act 2016 and its implications in relation to the directors duties and responsibilities  will also be discussed. Apart from the changes\, the session will also reinforce the general duties and responsibilities of directors under the Companies Acts. \n4 CEP Hours\nFee is inclusive of 6% GST.\n\n\nPresenter's Profile\n\n\nMR. DEVANESAN EVANSON \nDevanesan is a qualified accountant (FCCA) who is also a Chartered Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He also holds a law degree (LLB Hons) from the University of London. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (FIIA). \nDevanesan was appointed to the Board of AKPK (Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit) as an independent director and chairman of the audit committee in 2017. AKPK is an agency under the auspices of Bank Negara which provides Credit Counselling and Debt Management for customers of financial institutions. \nHe is also the past President of the ACCA Advisory Committee\, the past-President of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia and a past-Council Member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants. \nDevanesan retired from Bursa Malaysia in 2010 after serving Bursa Malaysia for eighteen years (1992 – 2010). He started his career at Bursa Malaysia as Head of Internal Audit and Risk Management.
