DESCRIPTION:Changes are about to occur in the governance ecosystem with the introduction of the Companies Bill. Towards meeting these changes the regulators have begun a realignment process. \nThe Securities Commission Malaysia towards meeting similar objectives had introduced a Consultation Paper on the Proposed Malaysian Code of Corporate Governance 2016. \nThe new code proposes a core and core+ approach towards embracing corporate governance but more significantly introduces the requirement for stating the intended outcomes and how companies go about achieving these. No longer can companies view corporate governance as a mere compliance statement and nice to have or as the regulator had stated in the consultation paper a mechanistic approach. Public Listed Entities going forward will need to communicate and demonstrate their practices with their corporate governance disclosures. \nFee is exclusive of 6% GST.\n\n\nPresenter's Profile\n\n \nMR. RAYMOND CORRAY\nRaymond is the Executive Director of a boutique firm that focuses in the area of Governance\, Risk and Compliance. \nRaymond has over 30 years of working experience of which he had spent the last 20 years advising Malaysian corporates in the area of governance\, risk and compliance. \nHe is a regular speaker at forums and seminars both domestically and regionally. He was the accredited and lead speaker for newly appointed directors of listed companies at the Mandatory Accreditation Program in the area of Corporate Governance for Bursa Malaysia. Other seminars that he speaks at are those organised by MICG and MIA. \n  \n\nMR. DEVANESAN EVANSON \nDevanesan is a qualified accountant (FCCA) who is also a Chartered Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He also holds a law degree (LLB Hons) from the University of London. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (FIIA). \nDevanesan was appointed to the Board of AKPK (Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit) as an independent director and chairman of the audit committee in 2017. AKPK is an agency under the auspices of Bank Negara which provides Credit Counselling and Debt Management for customers of financial institutions. \nHe is also the past President of the ACCA Advisory Committee\, the past-President of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia and a past-Council Member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants. \nDevanesan retired from Bursa Malaysia in 2010 after serving Bursa Malaysia for eighteen years (1992 – 2010). He started his career at Bursa Malaysia as Head of Internal Audit and Risk Management. He was also\, at one time\, the Chief Regulatory Officer and later\, the Chief Market Operations Officer of Bursa Malaysia. \nHe is also the past President of the ACCA Advisory Committee\, the past-President of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia and a past-Council Member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants. \nCurrently\, Devanesan is a trainer/facilitator in the areas of corporate governance\, risks\, controls\, Listing Requirements\, boardroom performance\, ethics and other governance and capital market subjects. \n\n\n\n\n
